The Compliance Team

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Head of Compliance (“HoCL”) and Legal professional who will report to the Group Head of Compliance to take responsibility for managing the Firm’s Compliance and Legal risk. The HoCL will assume responsibility for managing compliance and legal risks across the Firm. This role requires strong collaboration with all teams within the Firm.
🚀What you’ll do:
The Head of Compliance and Legal (HoCL) resident in the UAE and has responsibility for the implementation of the Firm’s Compliance policies, procedures, systems and controls and day-to-day oversight of its compliance with regulatory and legal obligations.
The responsibilities of the HoCL include, but not limited to, the following:
- Establish and implement and maintain oversight over the Compliance Monitoring Program (CMP);
- Ensure adherence to the requirements set out in the DFSA Rulebooks;
- Act as point of contact and manage regulatory relationships;
- Assume overall responsibility for the Firm’s Compliance framework;
- Conduct product risk assessments;
- Prepare reports for senior management, auditors, and external regulatory bodies as appropriate;
- Establish and maintain an appropriate Compliance training program and adequate awareness arrangements;
- Establish and maintain monitoring and reporting processes and procedures to ensure that any Compliance breaches are readily identified, reported and promptly acted upon;
- Ensure completion of at least 15 hours of structured continuing professional development (‘CPD’) hours per year relevant to [his/her] role (including any anticipated changes in the role), professional skill and knowledge and ensure that appropriate records of such CPD activities are maintained.
- Assume responsibility for legal documents, such as the Firm’s terms and conditions;
- Act as Secretary at board meetings; and
- Manage relationships with the Firm’s external legal counsel.
👀 What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in compliance and legal. Relevant education will be considered.
- Strong business acumen;
- Attention to detail, strong leader and comfortable solving complex problems;
- Comfortable and proven track record of working in a high paced environment;
- Proven track record and experience in managing regulatory relationships, the ideal candidate would have previously been authorised by the Central Bank of the UAE, DFSA or FSRA. UAE experience is mandatory;
- A go getter mindset, with a no task is to small mindset; and
- Excellent technical understanding and experience of UAE regulatory environments, policies, standards, horizon scanning and risk & controls assessment.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, excellent communicator, and capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently. The preferred candidate should have excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Preferred Languages: English and Arabic.
